Vaccinations, or vaccines, stimulate the body’s immune response to provide protection from a specific disease. Vaccines successfully stop the spread of contagious diseases, reducing the world’s mortality rate. Seasonal influenza vaccine (the flu shot) is available at all MedWise Urgent Care clinic locations.
Vaccinations:
Seasonal Flu Vaccines – Flu Shot
Influenza vaccine can prevent the flu, which is a contagious disease that spreads every year, usually between the months of October and May. The CDC recommends that individuals six months and older get vaccinated every flu season. Influenza vaccine does not cause flu and may be given at the same time as other vaccines. People who are or will be pregnant during influenza season should receive inactivated influenza vaccine. Tell your MedWise provider if the person getting the vaccine has (1) had an allergic reaction after a previous dose of influenza vaccine, or has any severe, life-threatening allergies, or (2) has ever had Guillain-Barre Syndrome (“GBS”).
MedWise does not perform routine childhood immunizations for well child checks (e.g., MMR, IPV, varicella). Please check with the appropriate organizations (e.g., your child’s school or CDC guidelines) to determine which vaccinations are required or recommended for you and your family.
