Sports
Many school districts require physical exams prior to enrollment in sports or other extracurricular activities. A sports physical helps determine if an individual can physically participate in a sport safely. A sports physical at MedWise Urgent Care may include a complete physical health examination, height and weight measurement, range of motion testing, blood pressure and pulse measurement, and visual acuity screening. During a sports physical, MedWise providers will focus on the health of your heart, lungs, bones, and joints. MedWise Urgent Care provides sports physicals for $27.
For children heading back to school, a physical exam is important to evaluate any issues your growing child may be experiencing. For example, a school physical can evaluate if your child’s vision is developing properly. Please bring a list of any medications that your child takes as well as eyeglasses if appropriate. MedWise does not perform routine childhood immunizations for well child checks (e.g., MMR, IPV, varicella). Please contact MedWise to verify if we are able to meet your physical exam needs.
Some employers may require a physical exam as a condition of employment after a job offer is made. At MedWise Urgent Care, our pre-employment physical exam will assess your ability to perform your required job duties. Pre-employment physical exams will vary based on the occupation, but typically include measurement of your height, weight, blood pressure, and pulse; review of current medications or supplements you are taking; and evaluation of your heart, lungs, eyes, ears, reflexes, and joints. MedWise does not provide Department of Transportation (DOT) physicals or drug and alcohol screening (chain of custody drug screens included).
Camp physical exams are also known as pre-participation physicals, and some organizations require that campers complete a physical exam before attending camp. The purpose is to evaluate your child’s overall health that can impact their ability to participate in certain sports like swimming. During a camp physical, MedWise providers will screen for health concerns that could impact your child’s safety and enjoyment of these activities. Before registering with MedWise, check with camp administrators about specific eligibility requirements.
Annual physical exams involve comprehensive lab tests and medical evaluations. We recommend having your annual physical exam performed by your Primary Care Provider (PCP).
