At MedWise® Urgent Care, we offer both rapid COVID tests and PCR testing during in-office visits. Rapid COVID test results are available in 15-30 minutes, making it convenient for patients who need quick results. PCR testing is also available, with results typically ready in 2-5 days.
Urgent Care PCR Tests
The Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) test is considered the most accurate COVID-19 test available. MedWise® providers will assess your symptoms and determine if a PCR test is necessary. Samples are sent to an external lab, with results returned in 2-5 days.
Urgent Care Rapid Tests
MedWise® Urgent Care offers rapid COVID-19 testing for individuals who have specific indications for testing or for those who are experiencing COVID-like symptoms.
Samples are collected and tested on-site, and test results will be available during your visit.
Covid Testing FAQs
What is the difference between a PCR test and a rapid test?
A PCR test is considered the most accurate and reliable method for diagnosing COVID-19 and is processed at an external lab. Rapid tests provide results in a shorter time frame but are less sensitive than PCR tests.
How long do PCR test results take?
PCR test results are typically available within 2-5 days after your sample is sent to the lab. If faster results are needed, MedWise® also offers rapid tests.
Can I get tested if I don’t have symptoms?
Yes, you can be tested for COVID-19 even if you are asymptomatic. Testing is available at MedWise® Urgent Care for individuals who may have been exposed to the virus or require testing for work, travel, or other reasons.
How accurate are rapid COVID tests?
Rapid COVID tests provide results within minutes but are less accurate than PCR tests. If a rapid test is negative and symptoms persist, your provider may recommend a follow-up PCR test.
Do I need an appointment for COVID testing?
While walk-ins are accepted at MedWise®, scheduling an appointment can reduce wait times, especially during periods of high demand.
